Your first original rewrite

A five-minute exercise for a complete beginner

Start with one reader and one action. Imagine you need a colleague to send a room number today so you can finish tomorrow’s invitation. The sentence below does not tell them either detail.

Could you send me the details when you have time?
  1. Replace “the details” with the exact thing you need: the room number.
  2. Give a useful deadline: 3 p.m. today.
  3. Add one reason that helps the reader understand the deadline.

One possible rewrite: “Could you send me the room number by 3 p.m. today? I need it for tomorrow’s invitation.” Notice that the improvement comes from useful information, not impressive vocabulary.

Now try a different request in the free Clear English assignment. Write your version before revealing the model. Use the checklist to improve one choice, then keep both drafts. You do not need to create an account.

When you are ready for persuasive writing, use a specific copywriting brief and study ad examples with analysis. The larger exercise collection adds headline, benefit, and editing drills.
